Technician For Design & Technology & Food

36 Hours term time only plus 1 week


  • Salary Point NJC 4-7 (£28,125 - £29,346) Actual Pro-Rata salary £24,056-£25,100
  • NOR: 1250 | 300 in 6th Form

A suitably qualified, technician for Design & Technology and Food is required to join our enthusiastic and committed Technology Department.

The Design & Technology faculty offers students the experience of Food, Product Design, CAD CAM and Graphics. Working within the Product Design area, candidates will require confidence in using and maintaining a range of specialism tools and equipment. A knowledge of CAD software (Techsoft) would be an advantage but training can be given.

Your duties will include:

  • Preparing, setting up and maintaining equipment, including CAD/CAM equipment, to ensure that it is in working order to support teachers in the production of students’ work
  • Preparation and clearing of practical work
  • Organising, maintaining and storing stocks of resources and preparing them for lessons
  • Support for teaching staff before, during and after lessons
  • General workshop maintenance
  • Ensuring a safe environment
  • Have the ability to order and budget for material resources
  • Have a good level of ICT knowledge
  • Administrative tasks
  • Delivery of equipment including laptops to lessons

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be committed to our ethos of high expectations where all staff strive to maximise outcomes for pupils
  • Have experience of working in a school environment, ideally with secondary aged pupils
  • Have a clear understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such all candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
