📢 KS5 Psychology Trip – Freud Museum & South Hampstead High School 🧠 On 11th March, our KS5 Psychology students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Freud Museum and South Hampstead High School! 🏛️ At the Freud Museum, students explored the former home of Sigmund Freud, where he lived after fleeing Vienna due to Nazi persecution. They also learned about Anna Freud’s pioneering work in child psychoanalysis. A highlight of the visit was an insightful talk on Schizophrenia and the Psychodynamic Approach. 🎓 Afterward, our students were warmly welcomed at South Hampstead High School, where their Psychology department shared findings from their independent research projects—something our own students will be undertaking in the summer term! 🚫Anti Bullying Workshop🚫 This week our Year 8's took part in an anti bullying workshop to discuss how to recognise bullying patterns and how to call out bullying. At Finchley we teach our students how to respect one another and give our pupils the tools to develop positive friendships with their peers. 🌷 Period Poverty🌷 For the month of March Year 8 will be collecting period products to help combat period poverty for the homeless women at St. Mungo’s. Year 8s will also make this a school initiative to help break down barriers and stigma surrounding period poverty. 🌸International Women's Day 🌸 Today we are celebrating International Women's Day by wearing purple and green. The female sixth form students led this initiative to symbolise the colours worn by the suffragettes. At our school we teach our students the importance of empowering women globally and recognising the important role they play in making society better. 🙏The beginning of Lent at FCHS. Ash Wednesday. 🙏 Our school marked the beginning of the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday services. Students received ashes that symbolizes mortality and repentance. Lent is a time of spiritual preparation for Easter, when we are encouraged to pray, fast and give alms.

🥞Shrove Tuesday🥞 Yesterday our sixth form students had been cooking up a storm, making pancakes as part of their fundraising efforts. The students put their cooking skills to the test and were successful in making 189 pancakes. This was a fantastic fundraising effort which encouraged lots of student participation. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the amazing pancakes but were also encouraged to remember the religious significance of the day in preparation for Lent. 🪒Brave the Shave🪒 On the 3rd March, some of our staff and students shaved their heads to raise funds for the incredible children at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. The event took place in the Hall, and we were extremely grateful for everyone who participated or came to support. Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice provides exceptional care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, offering families a place of support, comfort, and love during the most difficult times.
